Cast Iron Pipe Descaling

Cast iron drain pipe was used in San Diego homes for decades, and over time it corrodes and scales from the inside. That rough, flaking rust catches paper and grease, narrows the pipe and causes chronic slow drains and clogs. Descaling mechanically removes the scale and restores the pipe to its full diameter — a real fix that can add years of service to older plumbing.

How descaling works

We use specialized chain-flail and cutting tools driven through the line to knock rust scale off the pipe wall, then flush and camera the line to confirm the interior is smooth and clear. The result is a pipe that flows like it should and is far less likely to catch debris and clog.

Descale vs. replace

Full pipe replacement is expensive and invasive. When the cast iron is scaled but still structurally sound, descaling restores function at a fraction of the cost and disruption. A camera inspection tells us which situation you are in before any work begins.
